Clarence O. Wickerham, 79, of 3790 North State road died Tuesday at Ionia 
County Memorial hospital following an extended illness.

Born in Paulding, Ohio, January 28, 1895, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. James 
P. Wickerham.

July 8, 1919, he was married in Ionia to Alice H. Mitchell and she survives. 
They had lived at the present address since 1952 and celebrated their 50th 
wedding anniversary in 1969.

He was a veteran of World War I and member of the Ionia post of the American 
Legion and charter member of the World War I barracks.

A member of the First Baptist church he was a past deacon. He was a guard at 
the Michigan Reformatory at Ionia 13 1/2 years, was employed at the Fisher Body 
Stamping division in Ionia from 1937 to 1948, employed at the Oldsmobile in 
Lansing until 1951. From 1952 to 1961 he owned and operated a tackle shop on 
North State road retiring due to ill health. 

Surviving are the wife, Alice; three sons, Merle of Grand Ledge, Arnold of 
Sterling Heights and Roger of Ionia; two brothers, Vergil and Joe of Sheridan; 
five sisters, Mrs. Minnie Goodsell of Vickeryville, Mrs. Cindia Snider of 
Muskegon, Mrs. Allen Beach of Grand Rapids, Mrs. Elsie Palmer of Mason and Mrs. 
Dessie Courey of Detroit; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. 

Funeral services will be Friday at 2 pm at the Myers-Roetman funeral home. 
Interment will be at the Balcom cemetery.

A memorial has been established for the cardiac care unite at Ionia Memorial 
hospital or the First Baptist church.

The family will be at the funeral home Wednesday and Thursday from 7 to 9 pm.
