Grand Rapids - Margaret Caroline Wicks, 92, formally of 223 E. Washington St., 
died Saturday at the Porter Hills Presbyterian Village in Grand Rapids.

She was born March 15, 1886 in Orange Township, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. 
Edward and Sarah Jane Weisgerber. She was married May 21, 1921 in Orange 
Township to Kirk E. Wicks. He preceded her in death May 21, 1921.

She graduated from Butterworth Hospital School of Nursing in 1917 and later 
served as director of nurses. She lived in Grand Rapids until 1958 when she 
moved to Ionia. April of 1970 she moved to Porter Hills Presbyterian Village.

In Grand Rapids she was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian church, long 
time leader of the Central Circle, Charter member of the Womens City Club and 
had been active in the Butterworth Alumnae Association. The American Red Cross, 
The Welcome Home of the blind and a member of Kent Country Club of Grand 
Rapids. In Ionia she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and had been 
a member of the Martha-Esther Circle and the Womens Literary Club. 

She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Lyle (Henrietta) French, Ionia; two 
brothers, William L. Weisgerber and Robert R. Weisgerber both of Ionia; 5 
nephews and 3 nieces. One sister, Mrs. R.S. (Violet) Sykes preceded her in 
death. 

Funeral services will be 2 pm Wednesday at the Myers-Roetman funeral home with 
Rev. George Douma officiating. Committal services will be 4 pm at Oakhill 
cemetery in Grand Rapids.

A memorial has been established for the First Presbyterian church and may be 
left at the funeral home.

The family will be at the funeral home Monday and Tuesday from 7 pm to 9 pm to 
receive friends and relatives.
