Wieczorek, 19, Ionia young man, was instantly killed late Friday afternoon, when he drove his car into the rear of one of the heavy road scrapers operated by the Ionia Count Road Commission. The accident occurred north of the Shindorf gas station, near Earl Monks’ farm. Virginia Wieczorek, the driver’s sister, received a broken leg, and Raymond Sprague, of Lyons, a third passenger, received several bad cuts. Wieczorek was driving from Portland to Lyons when the accident occurred, and it was sated he had failed to see the truck due to a dust cloud. Driver of the county truck was George R. Miller, 44, also of Ionia. Miller was dazed by the impact and it was several minutes before he regained full consciousness. Believing a tire on the truck had blown out, he walked around the back to have a look, and discovered the wrecked car. He was too weak to give much assistance in getting the dead man and the injured from the wrecked auto. The injured were removed to Ionia hospital in the Neller ambulance. Funeral services for the young man, seventh highway crash victim of the present year in this county, were held at SS. Peter and Paul church in Ionia Tuesday morning.
