The Ionia County News, Thursday, July 8, 1948

Military funeral service for Pfc. Douglas Stuart Wiggins, will be held from 
the Myers Funeral Home at two o’clock Sunday afternoon, July 11.  Rev. H. S. 
Ellis of Belding will officiate and burial will be in Eaton cemetery.  The 
body will arrive in Ionia at 5:09 Sunday afternoon.

Pfc. Wiggins, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wiggins, Ionia, Route 2, went 
overseas with the Michigan National Guard, October 15, 1940.  He met his death 
at Buna, New Guinea, December 24, 1942, at the age of 26.

Besides his parents, he is survived by a brother, Elwood, Ionia, Route 2, and 
two sisters, Mrs. Grandville Phenix, and Mrs. Robert Guild, both of Belding.
