Gardner O. Wight was connected with the history of this village from its beginning. Thus one by one the oldest residents are fast passing. Mr. Wight was interested for many years in trapping and dealing in furs. His wife was accidentally killed on the railroad tracks about five years ago. The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon at the First United Brethren church, Rev. M. F. Wolverton giving the sermon, Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Goodemoot and Mrs. Thomas Johnson furnished the music. Burial was at Lakeside beside his wife and a daughter who died in her youth and for whom they never ceased to mourn. Obituary Gardner O. Wight was born December 15, 1947 in Quincy, Branch county, Michigan, and died at the University of Michigan hospital, Ann Arbor, Monday, March 17, 1930, at 1:30 in the afternoon at the age of 82 years 3 months and 2 days. He was united in marriage to Miss Hattie Whitcom in 1872 and resided in or near Lake Odessa until 1927 when he went to live with his sister at Chelsea. He leaves to mourn their loss one sister Mrs. Julia Ward of Chelsea, Mich., one brother Seth Wight of Dallas, Tex., and several nieces and nephews.
