Ionia Standard – Friday 11 July 1890
Sylvanus Wilber was born in Vermont, on August 12, 1806, and lived in his 
native state until 1826, when in company with his bride, Miss Sabra Blodgett, 
moved to St. Lawrence county, New York.  There he lived until 1854, during 
which year he came west, settling in Easton, Ionia county, where he maintained 
an honorable residence up to the day of his death, June 18th, when God saw fit 
to transfer his resting place to “one not prepared with hands, but eternal in 
the heavens.”  Mr. Wilber raised nine children, eight of whom survive to mourn 
the loss of a kind father, but they mourn not as those who have no hope.

Happy there with thee to dwell.
