Danby – Diphtheria is yet the prevailing disease; fourteen deaths have occurred 
and several cases are receiving medical treatment.  The last victim of the 
dreadful scourge was Eli Wilcox, oldest son of Jacob. J. and Martha Wilcox, a 
bright and intelligent boy of thirteen years and six months.  The bereaved 
parents, and all who have lost friends by the ravages of this cruel monster, have 
the sympathies of the entire community.
