Wilder, 80, of Belding, passed away Saturday evening, March 16, 2002, at the home of her granddaughter in Sunfield. She was born Oct. 10, 1921, in Greenville, the daughter of Alfred and Carey Orser Jewell. She loved to crochet, work in her gardens, sing, dance and in earlier years enjoyed painting. She is survived by her children, Betty and Dewaine Abbott of Lansing, Pet Stanton of Kentucky, John and Mili Wilder of Bruni, Verne and Vicki Wilder of Belding, Susan and John Oleksinski of Stanton, Julia Wilder and Melvin Holbrook of Mount Pleasant, Virginia and David Surette of St. Johns; 20 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Kathryn Jewell of Belding and Theola Jewell of Greenville. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Lila Wood, Faydele Belanger; brothers, Richard Jewell, Robert Jewell and Clare Jewell. Funeral services are 1 p.m. Wednesday at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding, with Pastor Ken Martin of Belding Bible Church officiating. A luncheon will follow at the Belding Bible Church. Interment will be in River Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Ionia Area Hospice.
