Wildern, 84, formerly of Grand Rapids and Greenville, passed away Saturday, April 12, 2003,at Metron of Belding. She was born in Flushing on July 20, 1918, the daughter of August and Emma Rewa Angstman. She attended Marywood Academy for 16 years and then went on to college, graduating in 1939. She served in the United States Navy in World War II, where she taught pilots celestial navigation, and was honorably discharged to take care of her sick mother. She then worked for 40 years at Guardsman Chemical, retiring in 1986 as executive secretary to the president. She was a former member of Silver Lake Country Club and Forest Hills Country Club, where she loved playing golf. She traveled around the world as a life master with the American Contract Bridge League and also was an accomplished classical pianist. She was preceded in death by her sisters and brothers, Margaret and Marie, Edward and Walther Angstman, Thomas and John Damouth. Norine was a loving, compassionate woman to everyone. She will be greatly missed by her husband, Mayo L. “Bud” Wildern, whom she married on May 31, 1956 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Grand Rapids; her special nephews, nieces and friends, including a very special friend, Roxanne Parker. She will remain in our hearts forever. Funeral services are 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hurst Funeral Home, Greenville, with the Rev. Father Fred Brucker officiating.
