Wildman of Holt (formerly of Lake Odessa), passed away August 28, 2014. Robert was born in Arizona January 2, 1930. He attended Carson City High School and graduated May 17, 1948. He then joined the U.S. Navy for four years, during the Korean War, served on the U.S.S. Lyman K. Swenson, Destroyer as a radio man. He was an employee of Ionia State Hospital for 21 years, working on the switchboard. He worked on his father’s farm. His father disapproved of him playing football, but Robert had determination, so he walked four miles home after football practice. He was a carpenter, and loved photography. He would walk two miles to country school, and get the wood stove going before the teacher got here, so it would be warm for school. Robert is survived by his children, Raymond V. Wildman of Lake Odessa, Rodney R. Wildman (Mary) of Wisc., Retired Capt. Randolph D. Wildman (Betsey) of Florida; grandchildren, Lindsey Wildman, Brittany (Eric) Adams, Randolph (Ponch) Jr., Konch (Amanda) Wildman, Ceara (Wildman) Thompson; great grandchildren, Morgan Wildman, Allie Adams, baby Jeff Adams, Elain Wildman, Tyler Wildman; and brother, Ronald Wildman of Lansing. He was preceded in death by his son, Rustin Wildman and his parents, Virgil and Laura Wildman. Cremation has taken place.
