Aug. 3, 1970 MRS. ILA A. WILES Mrs. Ila Alida Wiles, of 832 Hackett; Ionia, died Saturday afternoon at Butterworth hospital in Grand Rapids, after being a patient six days. She was born in Vestaburg, January 2, 1896, the daughter of George and Laura Campbell Howay, and made her home in Vestaburg and Alma. November 9, 1919 she was married to Walter Wiles in Flint. They made their home in Ithaca until moving to Ionia in 1924. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in November of 1969. Mrs. Wiles was a member of Free Methodist church in Ionia. Surviving are her husband, Walter; one son, Maynard of Ionia; two daughters, Mrs. Betty McNally, Fenwick, and Mrs. Bird Groom of Sheridan; three brothers, Byron Howay of Lapeer, Hartley Howay, and Leon Howay of Flint; four sisters, Mrs. Leah Diffin, Mrs. Harry Johnson, Mrs. Everett Sargeant, Mrs. James Melvin, all of Flint; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 pm from Boynton-Leddick funeral home, with Rev. Carl Ruble of Six Lakes Free Methodist church officiating. Interment will be at New Haven cemetery.
