Portland Observer – Wednesday, 15 February 1905

Sunday night last Mariette, wife of S. B. Wilkins, died at the home O.C. 
Allen, aged 61 years lacking two days.  She had been a great sufferer from 
cancer, the cause of death, for several months.  Deceased was born in 
Northville, Wayne County, Mich., and was married 37 years ago at Greenville to 
the husband who survives her.  Mr. Wilkins was at that time a resident of 
(unreadable) and they resided in that town several years before moving to the 
farm east of town from which they moved into the village, where they have 
lived but a few months.

Beside the husband Mrs. Wilkins leaves two children, Frank Wilkins of Sebewa 
and Mrs. Orra C. Allen of Portland and a host of friends to mourn her death.  
She was a member of the local hive of Maccabees and in the order carried a 
certificate for $1000, $500 payable to each of the children.  Mr. and Mrs. 
Wilkins had resided in this immediate vicinity ever since their marriage.

Funeral services were conducted from the house Tuesday afternoon, Revs. Buell 
and Millard officiating, and burial made in Portland cemetery.
