Ionia County News - Thursday, Jan. 31, 1935

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Scheidt, 210 Dye street, received word Monday of the 
death of their grandson, Lieut. Keith Willard, in Porto Rico (Puerto Rico), 
January 28.

The young man was the eldest son of Prof. and Mrs. C.E. Willard of Evanston, 
Ill. He had been in the U.S. Navy for the past six years and was in line for 
further promotions. Since May, 1934, Lieut. Willard had been on land duty at 
Quantico, Virginia, leaving there on January 16 for Porto Rico (Puerto Rico) 
No particulars of his death were learned. Milborn Scheidt left Tuesday for 
Chicago and will accompany the Willard family to Washington to attend the 
military funeral which it is expected, will be held in Washington the end of 
the week.
