Born to Ellen (French)Willemin of Borger, TX & Richard Willemin of Portland,MI. Nancy was a member of St.Gerard Catholic Church of Lansing,MI. She graduated from Portland St.Patrick High School, then earned a BS at Western Michigan University, then a Master's in Social Work from Michigan State University. She worked for 40 years in the field starting at Child & Family Services in Alpina, MI. After several years she returned to Lansing area working at St.Vincent dePaul Catholic Family Services. Nancy then spent over 20 years at Bethany Christian in Grand Rapids & then she headed up Bethany's Lansing Office. A former supervisor described Nancy as,"She was one of the most ethical, devoted & informed child welfare workers in the Lansing area."Her knowledge of the law & regulations assured that her recommendations made on behalf of the children were acknowledged & upheld by administrators & judges, while always providing special support for the birth parents, foster parents & adoptive parents. Nancy always maintained a positive attitude with a big & hearty laugh! She was a member of the inaugural woken's basketball & softball teams at Portland St. Patrick's School. Her dad, Dick Willemin & Bob Hirschman coached the first softball team. Nancy was an avid supporter of women's basketball, volleyball & soccer. Preceded in death by her father Richard Willemin. Survived by her mother, Ellen Willemin-Lentz & brothers, Ralph (Mary), Steve (Luann), Tom (Sherri), & lifelong friend,Liz Martin. Also surviving are her Aunt Janice Trierweiler, nieces Brock (Jackie) Willemin, Sara (Mark) Carnahan Erin(Kevin) Sharp, Tangela (Jacob) Luckey, 14 great nieces & nephews that she loved to spend time with, also her longtime friends from MAC & Spartan Athletics. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 26h qt Lehman Funeral Home in Portland,MI from 5 to 8 PM with rosary recited at 7:00PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, March 27th at St.Gerard Catholic Church in Lansing at 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family.
