May 30, 1924 COMMUNITY SHOCKED BY SUDDEN DEATH OF MRS. L. R. WILLETS The Community was shocked on Friday morning when they learned of the death of Mrs. L. R. Willets, who had passed away the previous night from a stroke of apoplexy. She retired at evening feeling apparently well, but remarked upon feeling tired. About 9:30 she called to her granddaughter, Fern asking her to summon a doctor, but passed away soon after medical aid was summoned. Her husband L. R. Willets, died very suddenly from a stroke of apoplexy about four years ago. Jennie Etta Ritter, daughter of Samuel and Eliza Ann Ritter was born Sept 12, 1863 at Ashland, Ohio, and departed from this life at the home of Lewis Tanner at Clarksville, May 22, 1924, aged 60 years, 8 months, 10 days. She was left motherless at the age of six months. Seemingly what she had been devoid of in mother love, has been lavished on her children and especially her granddaughter, Fern, who has made her home with her since early childhood, always a loving mother and a faithful and devoted wife. Her childhood days were spent near the city of Ionia. On March 24, 1880, she was united in marriage to L. R. Willets. Their married life was spent near Ionia, until 14 years ago when they moved to lake Odessa, Mrs. Willets residing here until the present time. She leaves to mourn their loss two children, Bertha, now Mrs. Leo Abbott, of Flint, and Ray, of Lansing, four grandchildren besides several other relatives and friends. She was a member of the R.N.A. and L.O.T.M., the members o f the R.N.A attending the funeral in a body. Fern will now make her home with her mother, Mrs. Abbott of Flint. Funeral services were held at the home of her nephew, A. D. Ritter, Sunday at 2 p.m., burial at Lakeside Cemetery. CARD OF THANKS We wish to thank our relatives, friends and neighbors, the R.N.A. and the L.O.T.M. for their kindness, sympathy and floral gifts during the recent death of our beloved mother, especially Rev. Cramer for his comforting words. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Willets, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Abbot and Grand Children.
