Mrs. Hannah Willett, aged 69 years, 11 months and 10 days. Her standing as a Christian parent and neighbor, and her peaceful change, by faith and hope made welcome, were expressed in the text of her funeral sermon: “A good name is better than precious ointment; and the day of death than the day of one’s birth” (Eccles, vii, 1.) The life of our deceased sister was like Mary’s precious ointment, filling all the home with its odor, as with the perfume of sweet incense. Faithful and true as a member of the church of God, she was universally esteemed, honored and beloved. She brought no reproach, gave no trouble, caused no anxiety; but inspired all hearts with confidence in her integrity, and with increased faith in Christianity. Her wise and affectionate influence as a Christian mother has its memorial and her family – a memorial of praise and honor. Mrs. Willett was a quiet, prudent, faithful Christian. While it is not to be regretted that at her ripe age, she has been released from earth’s trials, it is still a grief to kindred and friends that loved her dearly, and to them we offer our sympathy in the loss they sustain.
