August 23, 2025 JOHN RICHARD WILLETTE, age 77, of Clarksville, MiI passed away on Wednesday August 13,2025 after a courageous battle with cancer. John was born in Hasting's, MI to Ken & Marian (Mote) Willette on October 21, 1947. John was a lifelong area resident who attended Saranac High School & then serving his country in the Army during the Vietnam War. He was also a member of Clarksville Fire Department for several years. John's happiest moments were often spent outdoors, tending to his beloved roses with patience and care. He would admire his hard work every morning with a cup of coffee during his "walk abouts". John found joy in the simple pleasures of life- casting a line while fishing, shaping a walking cane with his own hands, or breathing new beauty into old furniture. His love for tractors was something passed down from his father, and the rumble of a Harley under him was always a source of freedom and fun. He also built homes for his family, pouring not just nails and wood into them, but love and care in every corner. But what John loved most was being surrounded by the people he cared about, his family. Any reason was a good reason to gather-whether it was sitting around a campfire making smoke in the "park", swapping stories that brought on belly laughs where we couldn't see his eyes anymore or sharing good-natured competition with the "poker posse". The "poker posse" was another constant in his life, where friendly competition & lighthearted banter were always guaranteed. John had a way of making everyone feel welcome, turning ordinary moments into cherished memories. His warmth, humor, and love for life touched everyone fortunate enough to know him. He taught those around him the value of hard work, the joy of simple pleasures, and the importance of staying connected to the people you love. Though he may no longer be with us in person, his spirit will live on in every rose that bloods, every story told by the fire, and every smile shared among friends and family. He will be dearly missed by, his wife of 40 years, Maria E. Willette; children, Jeff & Stell Willette, John & Elia Elliott, Margie (Lucas, Elaina, Mya) Elliott, MaryLou (Clyde) Rogers, Joe (Shelly) Ramirez, Jim (Stacey) Ramirez, Jennifer (Scott) Stoepker, Robert (Susan) Ramirez; 26 grandchildren; 15 great- grandchildren; siblings, Joe (Beth) WIllette, Jean (Dave) Faulkner, along with many nieces & nephews and friends. John was preceded in death by his parents; son, Joshua Ryan Willette; brother, Jim Willette; grandson, Christopher Ramirez.
