The funeral services will be held from the Baptist church in that village Saturday afternoon at two o’clock, under the auspices of the Masonic fraternity, of which the deceased has long been a member. Rev. Vincent Webb, of Portland, former pastor at Lyons, will read the burial services at the church and interment will be made in the Lyons cemetery. Mr. Hendershot came to Lyons in 1899 and for a number of years conducted a blacksmithing and wagon-making business, retiring from active labors about six years ago. For a number of years he conducted a blacksmith shop near the Literary Hall in Ronald Township. Later he was engaged in the same business in Palo and Vickeryville. He was united in marriage in 1880 to Miss Ida Wilson at Vickeryville. To this union were born two sons, Harry, of Lyons and Clyde, of St. Johns. Two sons, Frank, of Lansing, and George, of Grand Rapids, and a daughter, Mrs. Minnie Brown, of Charlotte, by a former marriage, besides the widow, survive. Had he lived until June 19 of the present year he would have been 80 years of age. He was popular in his home community and at one time served a term as justice of the peace in Lyons Township, being elected on the Democratic ticket in the face of a Republican majority. He was a good citizen, a good father and husband and a good friend. His passing will be marked by genuine sorrow by the good folks of Lyons, who long ago learned to love and respect him for his many finer qualities.
