Portland Observer, 4 Mar 1915

A brief illness from pneumonia proved fatal, Saturday morning, to Fred H. 
Williams, a well known farmer residing near Maple corners, whose critical illness 
was noted in these columns last week.  Mr. Williams was 59 years of age and was 
born in Keyesville, N.Y.  He came to Portland from Grand Rapids seven years ago 
and settled on the farm where he died.  The widow and three brothers are the only 
surviving relatives.  The remains were taken to Grand Rapids Saturday evening for 
burial.
