Dakota April 20, 1916 pg. 1, col.3 The Grim Reaper HARLAM WILLIAMS Harlam Williams, an old and respected citizen, passed away at the home of his son, George, southeast of town, on Monday of this week, after an illiness of several weeks. The funeral services were held yesterday at two o'clock from the Free Methodist church, the pastor, Rev. C.A. Evans, conducting the service. After the services the remains were taken to the Gothland cemetery for interment. Harlam Williams was born in state of Ohio June 30, 1838, and departed this life April 17, 1916, at the age of 77 years, 9 months and 26 days. On August 20, 1859 he was united in marriage to Amanda E. Mickel. To this union were born six children-three boys and three girls-all of whom, except one son, George, have preceded their father in death. After spending some years in Michigan he moved with his family to Iowa, where they resided for five years. During the year 1890 they moved from Iowa, coming to South Dakota and located in the vicinity of Beresford, where he continued his residence up to the time of his death. His wife preceded him to their eternal home about five years ago. Since that time he has made his home with his son, George. Besides his son he leaves six grandchildren to mourn his passing. Mr. Williams was well known throughout this part of the country. He was energetic and although for some years he has not enjoyed the best of health he has at all times born his suffering with fortitude and cheerfulness and his one object seemed to be to brighten the lives of those with whom he came in contact. The sympathy of all will go out to those who mourn. Additional Comments: Harlam Williams married Amanda E. Mickel dt/o Phillip Simeon "Sim" Mickle and Betsy Peck 20 Aug. 1859 Ionia, Ionia Co., MI.
