Williams, 73, of Phoenix, Arizona, formerly of Clarksville, died Saturday at Phoenix General hospital. He was born in Alpena on December 8, 1904 the son of Burt and Bertha Bassett Williams. He married Vivian Kessler Constantine in 1933. The family moved to Clarksville from Alaska, Michigan and lived in the area for 14 years before moving to Arizona where they have lived for the past nine years. Williams was employed by Michigan Consolidated Gas Company for 41 years until retirement in 1967. He started the Philmore Baptist Chapel in Freeport and served as a lay minister for several years. While living in Clarksville he was a member of the Clarksville Bible Church and Clarksville Lions club. Survivors include his wife, Vivian; three sons, Donald Williams of Grayling; William Williams of Phoenix, Arizona; John Williams of Ada; three daughters, Mrs. Mike (June) Haley, Freemont, California; Mrs. Larry (Carmen) Curtiss, Lake Odessa; Mrs. Roy (Mary) Copeland of Phoenix, Arizona; 19 grandchildren and one great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by one foster son, Dennis Lulofs in 1968. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Clarksville Bible church with Rev. Alvin Barker officiating. Burial will be in Clarksville cemetery.
