Aug. 9, 1900 Mrs. A. M. Williams Dead. The funeral of Mrs. Christine El Williams wife of Asher Williams occurred at the family residence 2 o’clock Tuesday afternoon; her former pastor Rev. Luther B. Kenyon of the M. E. church officiating, burial in Smyrna cemetery. Music by the M. E. Choir. The floral offerings were beautiful. The relatives present were Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Williams and three sons of Ionia, Mr. and Mrs. Curtis and daughter Blanche of St. Louis and her half-brother Jessie Woodward St. Louis, John Williams and wife, Fairplains and a number of nephews. Christine E. Woodward was born at Collins, Erie Co., New York, March 4th 1846. She came to Michigan in the fall of 1860, with her parents who located in Washtenaw county. Her mother dying the following year, the family returned to their former place of residence in New York, her father enlisting. At the close of the war, they again came to Michigan locating in Berlin township. Was married to A. M. Williams, Oct. 29th, 1866 at Smyrna, the same village where she was laid to rest. She died after a long illness in Belding, Aug. 4th, 1900, aged 54 years and 5 months. She has been a resident of Belding for 18 years and endeared herself to all who met her.
