June 5, 1925 AUNTIE WILLIAMS PASSES AWAY MAY 27 Long Life of Christian Stewardship. Lovingly Cared for During Closing years of Life. Harriett Bowen was born March 5, 1833 and died May 27, 1925 aged 92 years, 2 months 22 days. She was married to a Mr. Shepard in 1853 and in 1882 to Mr. Williams. She lived in Kalamo and later in Assyria. She came to Lake Odessa after her husband died, with the Keith family, Mrs. Keith being here sister, in 1899 Mr. Ambrose Slosson who boarded with her came here at that time and purchased the Lake Odessa Wave, later marrying Miss Mary Keith, who has cared for her aunt for many years, in fact since Aunt Harriett was too feeble to live alone. Mrs. Williams was a loyal member of the Congregational church here and every one loved to hear her splendid testimony of the Goodness of God. She was a faithful member of the Rebekah order and attended as long as health permitted always having something good to present to the members. She was very active as long as activity could possibly be maintained. She was lovingly cared for, never complaining and never complained of. The funeral was held at the Keith home Friday, Rev. Wm. Skentelbury of Charlotte preaching, Rev. J. E. Cook offering the prayer and the music by Mrs. Cook, Alta Lucas and Mrs. Leon Gilson. Burial was at Lake Side. Those from away to attend the funeral were a nephew, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Shepard of Assyria, Mr. and Mrs. Rogers, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Tuckerman (the latter being named by Mrs. Williams), a cousin Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Cox, Augustus Ford and Mr. R. C. Fruin a cousin all of Belview and Mrs. Helen White of Battle Creek.
