Aug. 6, 1980 LAFAYETTE WILLIAMS SR. Hastings - Lafayette Williams Sr., 75, of 5070 Coats Grover Road, Hastings, died Sunday at Barry County Medical Care Facility. He was born May 21, 1905, in Sherman City, Mich., the son of Franklin and Estella (Roberts) Williams. He attended Sherman City School. He married Sophia Cooke son July 1, 1925, in Grand Rapids, She preceded him in death Aug. 2, 1976. He lived most of his life in Barry County, where he farmed and worked in construction. He was a member of Kilpatrick united Brethren church. Survivors include seven sons, Lafayette Jr. of Vermontville, Richard of Barry County, Walter of Grand Rapids, Lloyd of Lansing, Larry of Woodland, and James and Mike of Hastings; one daughter, Mrs. James (Charlene) Halliwill of Woodland; one brother, Jerald of Grand Rapids; one sister, Mrs. Freda Kehoe of Grand Rapids; 30 grandchildren; 15 great- grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Pickens-Koops Funeral Chapel in lake Odessa with the Rev. George Speas officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m Monday.
