November 11, 1905

Mrs. Alfred B. Benjamin.  Miss Margaret Elenor Williams was born in New York 
state August 9, 1843, came with her parents when a child to Livingston County, 
Michigan.  Was married to Alfred B. Benjamin April 18, 1861, in the town of 
Lyons, Michigan; commenced housekeeping and lived on a farm in the town of 
Lebanon for several years.  Unto them were born five children, two having died 
in infancy, three still living to share in the bereavement of a loving mother 
and faithful wife. 

Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin have lived in Pewamo on their farm for upwards of 34 
years; they moved on it when it was woods and wilderness.  Mrs. Benjamin was a 
very active, ambitious, hard-working woman, practically helping her husband 
clear the farm.  She helped pile brush and logs, burning and clearing land, 
thus making for themselves a valuable property and delightful home.

Mrs. Benjamin united with the Baptist church at Pewamo in 1871, was converted 
under the ministry of Rev. Pettit and baptized in Stoney Creek and lived a 
consistent Christian life for 34 years.  She had been a great sufferer for 
many years but wonderfully patient and uncomplaining; it was her one concern 
to make as little work as possible for others.

She died November 11, 1905, in the 63rd year of her age.  Nobly has she borned 
her part as wife, mother and neighbor.  She was truly a wonderful woman, the 
thinker and planner, a business woman and devoted to the household.  Her end 
is peace.
