CASSIUS): THE ADVERTISER, Saranac, MI; 4-24-1913, front page: "Burned To Death" - While working around the cook stove getting dinner Sunday, Mrs. Cash Williams clothes caught fire and before it could be put out, burned her whole body to a crisp.....she died at an early hour Monday morning. As near as can be learned, she was changing kettles on the stove, using her apron as a holder when the apron caught fire. Her little sons ran out doors and gave the alarm, but before the neighbors could come to her assistance, her clothing was nearly burned off and her whole body was terribly burned. Dr. Braley was called and did all that could be done for her. It is a very sad case and the husband and children and relatives have the sympathy of the whole community." (Same issue of THE ADVERTISER: "LOCAL NEWS - Mr. and Mrs. Homer Thornton of Grand Rapids were called here Monday be the death of her sister, Mrs. Cash Williams." THE ADVERTISER, Saranac, MI; 5-1-1913, pg. 5: "Card of Thanks from Cash Williams, Charles Baird and family. OBITUARY - Maude M. Baird, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Baird, was born in the township of Boston September 16, 1876 and died at her home in Saranac Monday at 2:30 a.m. April 21, 1913. She was married to Cash Williams February 4, 1892. To them were born 5 children, 4 living. The deceased is survived by her husband, father, 3 sisters, 2 brothers, and a host of relatives and friends. The funeral will be held at the M. E. Church April 23 at 2 p.m., conducted by D. C. Riehl." Her gravesite is on the east edge of the cemetery, behind a large pink "Baird" tombstone. Her grave is at the back of the stone with those of Charles, Sarah E. Baird and those of Blanche (Baird) Thornton and her husband, Homer.
