The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Monday, February 12, 1979


A life long Ionia resident, Elizabeth M. (Bess) Williams, 78, of 232 E. Main 
St., died Saturday evening at Ionia Manor.  She was born in Ionia on April 10, 
1900, the daughter of William and Mary Garvey Duffy.

She attended and graduated from SS Peter and Paul school and started work at 
Ionia County Probate as Register of Probate on December 15, 1949, retiring 
October 12, 1971.  She was also a member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic church.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Frederick (Joan) Fisher of Anchorage, 
Alaska; four grandchildren, one niece, Betty Ann Duffy of Ionia.

Funeral mass will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at SS Peter and Paul church with 
Father Henry Dondzila officiating.  Burial will be in Mt. Olivet cemetery.  A 
scriptural wake service will be at the Leddick funeral home Tuesday at 7 p.m.  
The family will be at the funeral home this evening (Monday) from 7 to 9 p.m. 
and Tuesday 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. to greet friends and relatives.  A 
memorial fund has been established for Ionia County Memorial hospital and 
contributions may be left at the funeral home.
