Willaman, 57, for seven years owner-manager of the former Willaman Chevrolet garage, died Wednesday morning at St. Mary’s hospital in Grand Rapids. Mr. Williaman, who had been under treatment for sugar diabetes since spring lapsed into a coma at midnight. His death occurred at 8 a.m. Mr. Willaman came to Ionia in 1930 from Pellston where he was superintendent of the woods for 20 years for the Jackson Tindle Lumber company. He organized the Willaman Chevrolet company and was active until his retirement in January, selling his interests to the Berger and Lyons. Born at Nelson, Michigan, on August 20, 1881, Mr. Willaman was married to Catherine Ann McDonald at St. Charles in 1902. He is survived by his wife; a son, Wade Willaman, Ionia; a daughter, Phyllis of Ionia; his mother, Mrs. Jennie Willaman of Saginaw; and a sister, Miss Nora Willaman of Detroit. The body was returned to the Bradley Funeral home Wednesday morning and may be viewed there after 9 a.m. Thursday. Funeral arrangements are not complete, but the funeral will be held from the SS Peter and Paul church of which Mr. Willaman was a member.
