Elma Wilson, aged 50, of Lake Odessa, went Home to be with Jesus early Friday 
morning, June 24, 2005.  Elma was born in Ionia County on June 10, 1955 to 
Keith and Wilma (Usborne) Wilson.  She graduated from Lakewood High School in 
1973, and continued her education at Western Michigan University and became a 
speech therapist.  Elma continued her education with two Master’s Degrees and 
later worked as a home teacher/consultant for pre-primary impaired children at 
their homes and schools.

Most recently she had been employed by the Eaton Intermediate School District.  
Elma loved her Lord, her family and all children; she was always ready to baby 
sit her great-nieces and nephews.

She was a pianist and choir accompanist for her church, and also played the 
dulcimer and autoharp.  Elma’s love and devotion extended to her family when 
she left her job in Wisconsin and returned to Michigan to care for her parents 
and continued to take her mother and aunts on various summer vacations.  She 
was always ready to help on the family farm with milking and feeding calves.  
Elma’s patience and kindness touched many lives.

She is survived by her brothers and sister, Mary Anne Wilson, Victor (Kate) 
Wilson, Tom (Christine) Wilson, Anita (John) Barcroft, Jane (Gary) Mazei, and 
Janet (Paul) Kudirka; 13 nieces and nephews; and 11 great nieces and nephews.  
Elma was preceded in death by her parents; and niece, Jeanette Barcroft.

In keeping with her wishes, a private family service was held at the Koops 
Funeral Chapel in Lake Odessa.  Burial was in Fuller Cemetery.

The family has suggested that memorial contributions may be made to the Living 
Stone Counseling Center (631 2nd Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49004), the Lake Odessa 
Grace Brethren Church (2720 Vedder Road, Lake Odessa, MI 48849), or a charity 
of the donor’s choice.
