He was born January 2, 1910 in Chippewa County the son of Alfred and Sarah (Mosson) Wilson. He graduated from Portland High School in 1929. John married Margaret Thuma October 21, 1948 in Woodland, Mich., who preceded him in death April 9, 2005. He lived all his life in the Portland area. He was the first farmer to do no-till farming. John was a member of LeValley Methodist Church and Farm Bureau. He is survived by his son Duane A. Wilson of Plymouth; daughters Janice and Donald Jewell of Nashville, Barbara and George Gross of Lebanon, New Jersey, Sharon and Tad Westveer of Holland eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his brother Charles. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Friday at LeValley Church with Rev. Mark Johnson officiating. Interment Sebewa Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives Thursday 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia. Anyone wishing may make a memorial contribution in John’s name to Le Valley Church.
