He was born July 14, 1921 in Rhode Hiss, N.C., the son of John and Martha J. Lewis Wilson. He was married June 23, 1945 in Gaffney, South Carolina to Louise Rowley. He has been a resident of the Ionia area since 1945. He was employed by the Michigan Reformatory for 31 years, retiring in January 1979. He is a veteran of World War II, serving with the Marines. He is a member of the Easton United Methodist Church. He was an Easton Township trustee, a former 4-H leader and 4-H council member, and a member of the Moose. He is survived by his wife, Louise; four sons: Daniel of Palo, David of Lansing, John of Mesa, Ariz., and Richard at home; three daughters: Nancy Raymond of Rockford, Jane White of Ionia, and Melissa Wilson at home; also his mother Mrs. Martha Wilson of Ada; four brothers Les of California, Roger of Grand Rapids, Robert of Caledonia, and Lewis of Ada; five sisters: Myrtle Hoogeboom of Grand Rapids, June Kerr of Adrian, Gladys Schuelke of Lowell, Virginia Moore of Ada, and Marilyn Sullivan of Lowell; and seven grandchildren. Services will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Myers-Roetman Funeral Home with the Rev. Eldon Schram officiating. Burial will be in Easton Cemetery. A memorial has been established for the Easton United Methodist Church. Contributions may be left at the funeral home.
