Winans died at his home in Boston, Friday, Jan. 22, 1897, at the age of 72 years, 10 months and 3 days. He was born in Butler, Wayne Co., N.Y., March 19, 1824, and was married to Miss Nancy Talcott, September 26, 1848. Three children blessed this union, two sons and one daughter. Mr. Winans was in his usual health Friday morning and was at the barn assisting in some work when he fell and immediately expired. While living in Butler, N.Y., he joined the Disciple church, but after moving to Lowell he united with the Baptist church, again he moved to Freeport and cast his lot with the M.E. church from which he held a letter at the time of his death. He leaves a widow and daughter, Mrs. Joseph Barkley, to mourn the loss of a kind husband and an affectionate father. The funeral was held from the Lowell M.E. church Sunday, Rev. A. P.
