Winchell, 79, died at Chelsea Methodist home in Chelsea Saturday morning after residing there for seven years. She was born July 22, 1869, in Bowne township, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Monroe B. Winchell. She moved to Ronald township with her parents when she was a young girl and later moved to Ionia where she attended the public schools. She studied dressmaking and worked at this for several years in Ionia as well as clerking in several Ionia stores. She later moved to Detroit where she was employed as bookkeeper at the Detroit Central M.E. church for 20 years. She leaves two brothers, Dr. Clarence G. Winchell of Ionia and Dr. George Winchell of Fort Collins, Colo.; and a sister, Mrs. James Miller of Detroit. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock from Stone’s funeral home with Dr. Howard Smith, pastor of the Ionia First Methodist church, officiating. Interment will be in the family lot, Highland Park cemetery.
