Winchell, identified with Ionia business circles for nearly 26 years, died Thursday afternoon at 1:30 following months of sickness, the last two weeks of which he had been in bed and critically ill. Mr. Winchell was born in Kent county and came to Ionia county when still a young man. For years he engaged in farming and 26 years ago entered the furniture and undertaking business with Orin S. Stone. For all of these years his name has been synonymous with business methods that always were reliable and dependable. He was as constant and loyal in fraternal and church affiliations as he was in business and the Church of Christ, the Masonic order, and Order of Eastern Star, the White Shrine and Odd Fellow lodge to which he belonged were never slighted when they needed his cooperation. Surviving him are the widow and three children, Dr. Monroe Winchell, of Kalamazoo; Mrs. Nelson Cloutier, Detroit, and Miss Florence Winchell, at home. He also leaves two brothers, Dr. Clarence W. Winchell, Ionia, and Dr. George Winchell, of Oregon and three sisters, Miss Mildred Winchell, Mrs. Ernest Dodds, and Mrs. James Miller, all of Detroit.
