He was the oldest son of Rev. J. G. Winey, a Brethren church pastor. The Winey family were honored citizens as well as Christian people, and were pioneers of Campbell township. The deceased was a quiet man and a home body, although he never married. He lived on a farm all his life. Obituary. David M. Winey, the son of Rev. J. G. and Mary Winey, was born in Dark county, Ohio, December 21, 1863 and departed this life April 13, in Campbell township, Ionia county, Michigan, aged 74 years, three months and 23 days. In the year 1868 he moved with his parents to Campbell township, where he made his home until their death, after which he lived for three years with his brother Elmer, the remaining fourteen years his home has been with his niece and husband Rev. and Mrs. R. J. McRoberts. He united with the Campbell Brethren church December 5, 1914. He was faithful in his church work and attendance as long as health would permit. His health began to fail him two years or more ago. He leaves to mourn their loss four sisters Mrs. C. L. Henney of Freeport, Mrs. H. J. Goosen of Detroit, Mrs. Harry Munro of Zeeland and Mrs. D. L. Moore of Muskegon, and three brothers Will of Kalamazoo, Ira of White Fish, Mont., and Elmer of Campbell. Funeral services were held Friday at the Thornapple church with Rev. Arthur Carey preaching and Rev. and Mrs. Carey furnishing the singing. Burial was at Lakeside cemetery. Those in attendance at the funeral from away aside from the family members were Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Klahn of Lansing, Ormond More of Detroit, Mr. and Mrs. Orville Henney of Wyandotte, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Tindall and Mr. and Mrs. Dale Ritzler of Battle Creek, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Warren and Mr. and Mrs. Verner Winey of Kalamazoo and Russell Munro of Grand Rapids.
