Wingeier, 76, of North Powell highway, Fenwick, died at Ionia County Memorial hospital Sunday morning where he had been a patient the past two weeks. Born November 29, 1897 in Bowne township of Kent county, he was a son of Alexander and Mary Oesch Wingeier, and attended rural schools while working his parents farm south of Lowell. He married May Velzy in Lowell, August 6, 1921 and the couple made their home near Lowell until purchasing a farm in Ronald township in 1929, where they have made their home since. Mr. and Mrs. Wingeier celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1971. He was a member of the Palo United Methodist church and Ionia County Farm Bureau. Surviving are his wife; four daughters, Mrs. Charles Westie of Mt. Pleasant, Mrs. Kenneth Kistner of Southfield, Mrs. James Bussard of Spring Lake and Mrs. Christian Harder of Fenwick, 19 grandchildren, and three great grandchildren; two brothers, Simon and Donald of Lowell, three sisters, Mrs. Sophia Gramer and Mrs. Owen Harper of Lowell, and Mrs. L. T. Murphy of Detroit. Services will be at 2 p.m. January 15 from Palo United Methodist church the Rev. John Burney officiating. The body is at Leddick funeral home in Ionia until 1 p.m. Tuesday where friends and relative may call between 7 and 9 p.m. Monday. A memorial fund has been established for Palo Methodist church. Burial will be in Palo cemetery.
