The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Saturday, November 29, 1969
Vern R. Wininger, 77, of 8438 Church, Palo, died early Saturday at Sheridan 
Community hospital.  He was a retired employee of Carnation company.  
Previously he had owned and operated a grocery store in Sheridan many years.  
He attended Central Michigan teachers college and taught school in Butternut 
for some time.  A life member of Hastings Lodge, he was also a member of 
Scotish Rite DeWitt Clinton Consistory 32 degree of Grand Rapids.  He belonged 
to Palo OES, and was a charter member of Sheridan Lions club.

His wife Ivah preceded him in death in 1963.  Surviving are a son, Dr. Vernon 
Wininger of Greenville; a daughter, Mrs. Ross Nelson of Sheridan; four 
grandchildren; brother, William Wininger of ElMonte, California.

Funeral services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Stebbins funeral home in 
Sheridan.  Officiating will be Rev. Kendall Downing of Congregational church 
of Sheridan.  Interment will be at Palo cemetery.  Graveside services will be 
conducted by Pearl Lake Lodge of Sheridan.  Bearers will be members of the 
lodge.
