Having experienced both Gods blessings and life's challenges, he is now at peace after a final day enjoying the sunshine and warmer temperatures - doing what he loved - being outside and driving his lawn tractor, getting a final "mow" in before the snow starts to fly. Born April 22, 1950, in Dexter, MI to parents Ann and Dewey(Dallas) Winkle (both deceased), he had never really strayed from southeast Michigan, except for a brief stay at university in the Upper Peninsula (MI), and the last 14 years in Saranac. Prior to moving to Saranac, he had retired after 35 years as a skilled trades professional (Tool & Dye Maker), from Associate Springs/Barnes Group, Saline,MI. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, D.Marilyn Reid; his son, Marty (Julie) Winkle, Dexter, MI; his granddaughter, Allyson (Jake), Dexter, MI; his sister, rosemarie (Leonard) Devlin, Dexter, MI; his brother, Larry (Sandy)Winkle, Lake Margrethe (Grayling), MI; his sister-in-law, Cecelia "Cis" (late Glenn) Winkle, Stockbridge, MI; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grand nephews, and even a great grand niece and nephew or two or three.. all residing in and around Dexter. Dallas also enjoyed his active membership role with the Boston- Saranac Historical Society, and would want to mention all his neighbors and friends in and around the Saranac area, with a special shout out to Ron and Sandie Sage, our across-the-road neighbors from whom he had occasion to share a beer (or two) with. Dallas loved the outdoors; gardening, yard work, fishing, hunting all while listening to daytime radio talk shows, to which he seemed to be addicted. When he couldn't get outside, cooking up some new recipe, baking anything and, most times, everything from scratch...also while listening to the radio..kept him out of mischief. He never met a dog he didn't like as well as the occasional cat or one cat in particular, (Miss) Mac, who he described as "just like a dog." When he did watch TV, sports of any kind would keep him interested-and that included curling (a tribute to his Canadian wife) and college corn hole tournaments. Cremation has taken place. Please join us n a celebration of Dallas' life at the Saranac Depot, 138 N.Bridge Street, Saranac, MI Wednesday, November17, 2021, from 1:00 to 4:00p.m. Casual attire, a plaid shirt if you have one.
