July 26, 1934 MRS. MARY WINTER PASSED AWAY SUNDAY Mother of Edward Winter of Woodbury Leaves Christian record of More Than Fifty Years. After a lingering illness of fifteen weeks' suffering. Mrs.Mary Winter of Woodbury passed away Sunday, July 15. She was devotedly cared for in her last days by her son, Edward and his loyal wife. They strove to make her as comfortable as possible during these closing days of her life. Mrs.Winter was a faithful Christian worker in the church and community and leaves a record of being ready when the summons came to reap the reward of the faithful. The funeral was held at the United Brethren church, Wednesday. The pastor Rev. F.M. Wheeler assisted by Rev. G. F. Klopfenstein officiated. The music was by Mr and Mrs I.T Gilson and Mrs. W. C McCartney. The bearers were Mrs.Winter's nephews. Burial was at Lakeside cemetery. OBITUARY Mary Statsick was born in Germany, June 3, 1856, and died in her home in Woodbury, Mich., July 15, 1934, aged 78 years, one month and 12 days. She came with her parents, when on infant, from the country of her birth, to a place near Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. When she was six yeas old her parents moved to Kent county, Mich., where she grew to young womanhood. She was married to Emanuel Winter, November 20, 1877. In 1927 they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. To this union was born one son Edward who lives on the farm to which they moved from Caledonia int he year 1880. For several years, mr and Mrs Winter lived in the village of Woodbury where Mr Winter died October 24, 1931, and at which place Mrs Winter passed away. She leaves to mourn their loss the son Edward and family of Woodbury; two sisters, Mrs Sarah Doles of Grand Rapids and Mrs.Elizabeth Miller of Boyne City; one brother Aaron Statsick of Caledonia; two grandchildren, thirteen nephews and e nieces. Three brothers and two sisters preceded her in death. She was converted to Christ over fifty years ago and joined the Evangelical church. Later she united with the United Brethren church at Woodbury, of which she was a loyal member until the time of her passing. She was a faithful Christian and her devotion to the church was a most vital element of her life. In her suffering she often expressed the desire to pass out and be with her Savior. She leaves many friends who will greatly miss her, for a good life will always make itself felt in the community. CARD OF THANKS We wish to thank the relatives, friends, and neighbors for their kindness, sympathy and flowers during he time of the illness and death of our mother and grandmother. Also we greatly appreciate the services of the pastors Rev. E.M.Wheeler and Rev. G.F. Klopfenstein and those who furnished music Mr and Mrs I. T. Gilson and Mrs.W.C. McCartney.
