Lester A. Winters, 63, of Sheridan, passed away Tuesday evening, February 24, 
2004 at his home.  He was born November 1, 1940 in Bay City, the son of Lester 
and Eleanor Middleton Gillman.  

For many years Lester drove bus in Bay City and later for the city of Grand 
Rapids.  He was a member of the Bus Driver’s Union.  

Lester was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jason; grandson, Anthony; 
brothers, Paul, Elsie and Ted; and sisters, Betty Houseman, Dora Watson and 
Lorraine Warden.  He is survived by his children, John Winters of Sheridan, 
Renee and Michael Arntz, Dennis Winters and Jennifer Campbell, all of Belding, 
Daniel Penning, Nathan Winters, both of Hale; eight grandchildren and one great-
grandchild; brothers and sisters and their spouses, Alan and Barbara Winters of 
Franklin, Tennessee, Ruth and David Ralph of Sheridan, Joyce Beardslee of 
Greenville, Edith Sandborn of Ionia, Kenneth and Brenda Gillman of Sheridan.

Funeral and committal services are 1 p.m. Saturday at Johnson-Feuerstein 
Funeral Home, Belding, with Pastor Larry Austin officiating.  Interment is in 
Rest Haven Memory Gardens.  Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the 
funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be given to the McCauley Health 
Center or Hospice of Gratiot County.
