Mr. Wise had lived alone part of the time and part of the time with his son Charles at Sunfield, since his wife’s death a year ago last April. For a long time he has not been well but like most elderly people desired to keep at his work. On Friday afternoon he was in the bakery watching the processes of the baker and stated it was too warm for him. He then left and returned about nine o’clock in the evening getting his bread and cookies. When in front of Dr. C. H. Peabody’s residence he fell, dying instantly. Mr. Wise was taken to the home of his daughter Mrs. Ira Whittimore in the eastern part of the village of await burial. He was well known all through this vicinity and he made and sold brooms, going out even in recent months with his wares. When Mr. Wise came from Ohio he settled in the Darby district west of the school house. With the exception of two years living in Woodland he has lived in Lake Odessa since. His residence here being twenty years. His wife was an invalid many years and his devotion to her was admired by all who knew them. Harvey Wise, son of Daniel and Catherine Wise, was born near Horatio, Dark county, Ohio, March 28, 1858, and departed this life August 5th, 1926, aged 68 years, 4 months and 8 days. On January 18, 1880 he was united in marriage with Susannah Bashore in Ohio. A few years later they moved to Michigan making it their home unit God removed his companion April 24, 1925. This union was blessed with four children, two sons and two daughters, two passing away in early childhood. About three years ago he united with the Church of the Brethren and has remained faithful until death. He leaves to mourn his departure on son, Charles of Sunfield and one daughter, Mrs. Nettie Whittemore of Lake Odessa, four grandchildren and three brothers, John of Union City, Ohio, Frank of Greenville, Ohio, and Cyrus of Bradford, Ohio and many other relatives and friends.
