Belding Banner - News - Wednesday, May 28, 1924

Mrs. Frank Wise, aged 24 years, died at her home in Detroit, Sunday afternoon, May 
25, after a several weeks illness.

Mrs. Wise will be better remembered by many here as Ruth Edwards, daughter of Mr. 
and Mrs. Ray R. Edwards, of Palo, but former residents of his city. She was born in

Belding on April 20, 1900 and spent her childhood and school days here. She was 
valedictorian of her class in 1917 and later on attended Ypsilanti Normal. Following

this she taught school at Palo and Lake Odessa. She met her husband, Frank Wise on 
July 4,1917, shortly after his enlistment in the army and this friendship continued

throughout the young man's service in France and resulted in their marriage on 
October 29, 1919. The more than four years which they were privileged to live 
together were full of happiness. Ruth was of a very cheery disposition and always 
radiated happiness in her home, with her friends and associates. She was loved by 
all who knew her.

In 1918 she united with the Congregational church in this city and was also a member

of the Eastern Star order of Detroit.

Surviving are her husband, a baby boy three weeks old, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray

R. Edwards, three sisters, Marian, Eleanor and Edith a grand father, Albert L. 
Spencer and a grand mother, Mrs. Marian Billings and a host of friends.

The remains were met at Ionia on Tuesday afternoon and brought here and taken to the

home of Mr. and Mrs. E.C. Lloyd, from where the funeral services were held this 
afternoon, at 2:30 o'clock, Rev. A.J. Blair, a former pastor of the local 
Congregational church officiating and the remains were laid to rest in River Ridge 
cemetery.
