He lived most of his life in Ionia, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Eva in 1985. He was born on April 24, 1914, in Delta Township of Eaton County, Michigan, the son of Myrtie Allen Wiseman and Lee Wiseman. He was a graduate of Grand Ledge High School. In 1938 he married Eva Gaut of Ionia, Michigan. He retired from General Motors after 37 years, having worked for Olds and Fisher Body in Lansing. He joined the Church of Christ (now First Christian Church) in Ionia in 1939, where he served as an Elder as well as a Sunday School teacher. He joined the Ionia Masonic Lodge #36 in 1948 and became a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason. He was a leader for the Boy Scouts of America Troop 55 and was a member of the District for 30 years. He was a member of the American Red Cross and was Chairman of the Ionia County Disaster Team for 15 years. He loved helping others, gardening and fishing. He was known for his peony garden next to his driveway on State Street in Ionia. In 1986, after moving to Texas, he transferred his church membership to the Church of Christ of Harlingen, Texas. In 2007 he returned to the Midwest for a year. In 2008 he became a resident of a skilled nursing facility in Virginia. He is survived by their three daughters, Dianne Yunkman (Joseph) of Ypsilanti, Joanne Goszczycki (Eugene) of Lemont, IL, and Marian Wiseman (Tom Eichenberger) of Washington, DC; six grandchildren: Kristyn Schuh; Erin, Dave and William Karr; Greg Goszczycki; and Rachel Wiseman; 10 great-grandchildren: Lyndsey Chisholm, Jesse, Amber and Darian Karr; Margaret, David and Johanna Schuh; and Casey, Alexis and Amanda Goszczycki. Funeral services will be held Monday July 6th at 11:00 A.M. at First Christian Church Ionia with Pastor Armand Aronson officiating. Interment at Balcom Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives Sunday, 4-7 p.m. at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia and Monday 10 a.m. prior to the service at the church.
