Cephas Emmanuel Witt, aged 71 years, passed away at his home, 824 S. Pleasant 
street Tuesday evening at about 8 o’clock following a long period of ill 
health, caused by a heart affliction.

Mr. Witt was born at Sheridan on December 18, 1871, and after growing to young 
manhood was married to Miss Lou Bell Burgan, who with one daughter, Mary, 
living at home, survive.  As a young man he worked at lumbering and later on 
farming and for many years was employed as an engineer in the Ranney factories 
in Greenville.  In 1935 he came to take up residence in the Brink community and 
some time ago disposed of his farm there and acquired the home in this city, 
where he has since resided.

Funeral services will be held at the Ellis funeral home Friday afternoon at 2 
o’clock with Rev. H. S. Ellis officiating and burial will be in River Ridge 
cemetery.

Coroner Bruce Fales, who was called on the case, stated that death was due to 
natural causes and no inquest necessary.
