Ionia Sentinel, Fri., June 23, 1876

Asa Witter, aged twenty-one years, who had been suffering some time from a large 
carbuncle on the neck, over the jugular veins, died Sunday, the 18th, inst., of 
Pyaemia, after a prostration of only two days.  The purulent infection, secreted 
in the anthrar, so affected the blood circulating through it, that this blood 
afterwards excited destructive suppuration in the lungs; when all remedial efforts 
were destitute of efficacy. His body was carried to Lansing for interment.
