She was ironing at her home Tuesday noon when she fainted and fell onto the gas stove, her clothing caught on fire, nearly burning her to death. She was rushed to the St. Mary’s hospital where she lived until Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. Witzel was born in Indiana in 1878, she came to Ionia about 32 years ago and was married to Fred Witzel shortly after. They lived here several years before moving to Grand Rapids. Surviving are the husband Fred, one son Melvin living in Grand Rapids, and three granddaughters. Fred Witzel is a brother to Henry and Godlup Witzel of Ionia. Mrs. Witzel’s body was brought to the Boynton funeral chapel were funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Burial will be at Highland Park cemetery.
