Bennett lib@dogsbark.com April 17, 2010, 11:11 pm Ionia Daily Sentinel-Standard WITZEL, SARAH ANNA (BENNETT): IONIA DAILY SENTINEL-STANDARD, MI, Monday, January 9, 1956, p 2: "Deaths - MRS ANNA WITZEL, 79, died Sunday evening at 8:55 at Robinson's nursing home where she had been a patient for the past eight months. She was born October 29, 1876, the daughter of John and Margaret Bennett, and lived all her life in Ionia county. She was married to Godlup Witzel in 1895 and had lived at their home at 214 Adams street for the last 40 years. Mr Witzel died April 28, 1955. Mrs Witzel was a charter member of the Women of the Moose, Royal Neighbors society and also a member of the First Baptist church. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs Otto Northrup; one son, Laurence; eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren of Ionia. The family will be at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 o'clock. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Boynton funeral home with the Rev. W. W. Pixley officiating. Interment will be in the family plot at Balcom cemetery." Thursday, January 12, 1956, p 3: "Deaths - MRS ANNA WITZEL - Funeral services for Mrs Anna Witzel who died Sunday evening were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Boynton funeral home with the Rev. W. W. Pixley officiating. Interment was at Balcom cemetery. Pallbearers were James, John, Lawrence and Richard Northrup, Norman Marquette and Paul Kukielka. Attending the services from away were Mr and Mrs John Bennett and Mr and Mrs Archie Birch of Muskegon, Mr and Mrs Paul Kukielka of Lansing, Lloyd Witzel and Miss Josephine Witzel of Stanton. Also attending in groups were members of the Women of the Moose and the Royal Neighbors society."
