Ionia Sentinel Standard, 1 Nov 1977

Irene B. Witzel, 73, of 222 East Main, Ionia, died Monday morning at a Grand
Rapids hospital following a long illness.  She was born May 11, 1904 in Ionia,
the daughter of Earl and Anna Holcomb.  She attended Ionia public schools and
married John Witzel November 20, 1943 in Ionia.  Mrs. Witzel was a retired
employe of Fisher Body in Lansing and a member of the Ionia congregation of
Jehovah’s Witnesses.

One daughter, Marilyn, preceded her in death.  Survivors include her husband;
one son, Verl Ferris of Webberville; four daughters Mrs. Virginia Evitts of
Ashley, Mrs. Elaine Ketner of Ionia, Mrs. Anita Bissell of Pewamo and Mrs.
Joanne Smith of Charleston Heights, South Carolina; two sisters Mrs. Erma Becker
of Olivet and Mrs. Alice Lowery of Muir; 22 grandchildren and 32
great-grandchildren.

Services are Thursday at 2 p.m. from the Hull Memorial chapel with Leon
Ellsworth of Kingdom Hall, Ionia officiating.  Burial is in Muir cemetery.
