Verna B. Wohlscheid, 79, passed away on Monday, Aug. 22, 2005.  She was born on 
July 6, 1926 in Lansing, MI the daughter of Lewis and Betty (Nesbit) Cole.  
Mrs. Wohlscheid was a member of the Portland United Methodist Church for many 
years, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star (holding various offices at 
the county level), and was a Girl Scout Leader.

Verna did the bookwork for Municipal Supply company for over 30 years, and she 
enjoyed golf, bowling and traveling.  She was preceded in death by her 
parents.  Surviving are her husband of 54 years, Howard Wohlscheid of Portland; 
children, Lisa (David) Fitzpatrick of Ionia and Brian (Nancy) Wohlscheid of 
Portland; 5 grandchildren, Lindsay and Ethan Fitzpatrick, and Daniel, Blake and 
Graham Wohlscheid.

The Funeral Service was conducted by the Rev. Gregory R. Wolfe, Pastor of the 
Portland United Methodist Church, at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, 2005 at the 
Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge Street, Portland.  Interment 
followed at Portland Cemetery.  The family received friends at the funeral home 
from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.  For those desiring, memorial contributions 
may be made to the Portland United Methodist Church, in memory of Mrs. Verna B. 
Wohlscheid.
