Ionia Sentinel, 1 May 1940

Albertus Wolthuis, 57 of Detroit died suddenly Monday night at 10 o’clock of a 
heart attack as he waited for his bus at a Detroit bus station.

Wolthuis went to Detroit from Ionia county, Ronald township, several years 
ago.  He was born March 14, 1883, in the Netherlands.  He was a member of the 
North Plains church and belonged to the Masonic lodge in Grand Rapids.

Surviving are the widow, Marie; one daughter, Mrs. John Berhage of Grand 
Rapids; five sons, Joe of Ionia, Gerald of Ionia, Ed of Clarksville and Gerrit 
and Albert of Grand Rapids; ten grandchildren, one brother and one sister, both 
living in the Netherlands.

Funeral services will be held from the VanHoft funeral chapel in Grand Rapids, 
Friday afternoon, May 3, at 2 p.m.
